About the position

The Business Analyst position at Travelers Companies, Inc. is a full-time role based in Hartford, CT, offering a hybrid work environment. The primary responsibility of the Business Systems Analyst is to work closely with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate business and solution requirements that align with business needs. This role requires the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder groups, identify areas of contention, and foster a shared understanding between the customer community and the solution delivery team, all while ensuring alignment with both Business and IT strategies. The Business Systems Analyst is expected to transition into unfamiliar business and systems domains with minimal guidance, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for the success of the Requirements Definition Process for assigned work, which includes eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and communicating business, system, and implementation requirements. The analyst must ensure that these requirements are clear and comprehensible to both business users and solution delivery teams. Effective communication of requirements conflicts to project leads is essential, as is assisting with conflict resolution. The analyst will also manage requirement traceability and changes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that the test strategy and plans adequately cover the requirements and assist in defect resolution. The position involves measuring and tracking the quality of business analysis work, participating in determining how requirements will be approached and managed for specific projects, and collaborating with project leads to develop requirements work plans. The analyst will identify, refine, and articulate the business objectives and value proposition of assigned initiatives, bringing alternative perspectives to influence consensus among stakeholders. Continuous improvement in understanding requirements techniques and processes is encouraged, as is the ability to support multiple initiatives simultaneously. This role is part of the Business Insurance team, which is undergoing a strategic initiative to modernize its platforms, including working with the Guidewire ‘PolicyCenter' platform and the Auto product in the SCBP platform.
