About the position

The Business Analyst II will focus on addressing the needs of the basic research and research administration community, particularly in the realm of cloud enablement. This role involves collaborating on complex projects, supporting high-profile users, and developing new business processes to enhance cloud computing capabilities and security. The position is integral to improving the functionality and accessibility of a hospital's computational resources and IT platforms, under the guidance of the Associate Director and RIO Management team.

Responsibilities

  • Gather business requirements, conduct workflow analysis, and document processes for major cloud providers: AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • Provide support and advice on cloud infrastructure, best practices, and security considerations.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of system and workflow solutions for research computing services.
  • Schedule and run meetings, report progress, and track issues.
  • Develop and maintain expertise around informatics products and services to support researchers.
  • Manage medium to large-sized projects from inception to completion, including team communication and scope changes.
  • Follow project management lifecycle standards as per DFCI and group-specific guidelines.
  • Learn and utilize new products and tools to complete work assignments effectively.
  • Elicit and document functional requirements for ongoing implementation projects.
  • Evaluate processes, propose improvements, and educate the user base.
  • Document daily activities, progress, and workload metrics.
  • Develop training materials and end-user documentation for assigned applications.
  • Promote product awareness to maximize usage of existing solutions.
  • Collaborate with other departmental teams to ensure alignment with Institute goals.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships and represent RIO effectively.
  • Engage in ongoing communication and feedback with customers and peers.
  • Support team culture and utilize Dana-Farber Cancer Institute values in decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, Business, Basic Sciences, or relevant healthcare/life sciences.
  • 5+ years of direct analytical experience in a customer-facing role or in clinical/basic research or administrative support for research.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams of 5 or more indirect resources.
  • Experience with successful implementation of enterprise applications.
  • Strong project management skills; formal business analyst training is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
