About the position

The Business Analyst II position involves supporting compliance and regulatory functions for commercial trading activities in the Oil & Gas industry. The role focuses on ensuring adherence to market rules and regulations, conducting trade surveillance, and providing compliance advisory services to traders and management. The analyst will work closely with the Global CTC Team to enhance compliance awareness and assist in internal investigations, while also maintaining knowledge of external regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support Commercial traders in trading North American Physical Gas and Power markets, including understanding relevant market rules and compliance requirements.
  • Track relevant rules and regulations related to gas & power commodity derivative trading activity on exchange and over-the-counter.
  • Conduct risk-based trade surveillance of gas and power commodity derivative trading using the Nasdaq Trade Surveillance (NTS) tool.
  • Evaluate daily futures and option positions to ensure compliance with regulated exchange position limits.
  • Assist in increasing trading personnel's awareness of relevant rules and regulations by creating and implementing learning modules.
  • Ensure compliance of internal controls and policies, maintaining monitoring reports and escalating potential violations.
  • Support internal investigations of company trader behavior as required, summarizing key issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance and regulatory knowledge of CFTC, FERC, and ISO rules for power, renewables, and gas markets.
  • Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders, providing timely advice on compliance issues.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3 years or more of experience supporting a Commercial Trading function, with exposure to front and mid-office trading activities.
  • Knowledge of gas products, ISO/RTO power products, and commercial competence of traded products and markets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using the Nasdaq Trade Surveillance (NTS) tool or similar monitoring system.
  • Familiarity with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems such as Allegro, Right Angle, Aligne, and SAP4.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. commodities regulatory environment and applicable laws including Dodd-Frank and the Commodity Exchange Act.
  • Working knowledge of PowerBI for creating tailored reports and dashboards.
  • Proficient knowledge of regulations, exchange rules, and internal policies related to North American physical and financial gas and power trading.
