About the position

RectorSeal is seeking a Business Analyst focused on Logistics to lead data culture change and enhance analytics related to freight and inventory planning. The role involves analyzing freight trends, creating predictive models for freight costs, and building audit reports for freight invoices. The analyst will leverage data to drive insights and support better business decisions, requiring an office presence two days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement supply chain optimization projects
  • Develop requirements and standards (e.g. packaging, procurement, delivery)
  • Discover the most cost-effective shipping modes and schedules
  • Help foster trusting relationships with freight vendors and team members
  • Evaluate vendor operations (e.g. freight forwarders) according to quality and cost standards
  • Collaborate with IT professionals to implement effective systems with an emphasis on enhancing electronic data exchange with logistics providers
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise logistics policies, procedures, and plans
  • Recommend improvements to existing or planned logistics processes
  • Stay current on the latest innovations in logistics and what competitors are implementing
  • Address routine and unexpected disruptions in the supply chain to keep products moving
  • Negotiate with carriers for rates or schedules
  • Apply analytic methods or tools to understand, predict, or control logistics operations or processes
  • Develop and analyze logistics data using methods such as data mining, data modeling, or cost or benefit analysis for various logistics performance measures (KPI's)
  • Develop or maintain payment systems to ensure the accuracy of vendor payment and freight claims
  • Provide ongoing analyses in areas such as transportation costs, parts procurement, back orders, or delivery processes
  • Manage systems to ensure that pricing structures adequately reflect logistics costing
  • Keep management aware of changes in freight costs
  • Develop or maintain models for logistics uses, such as cost estimating or demand forecasting
  • Confer with ship coordinators and DC managers to determine ways to optimize service levels, maintain supply-chain efficiency, or minimize cost
  • Route or reroute drivers as needed and provide resolution on complicated freight issues.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel
  • One year of data analysis experience in the logistics industry or related industry
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes (e.g. inventory planning, warehouse management)
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in a related field

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in computer databases, statistics applications, and logistics programs
  • Data Science or Data Analytics Bootcamp or program certification
  • Experience with code-light analytics programs
  • Knowledge of machine learning principles and advanced statistics
  • Experience with visualization programs (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, Domo, Looker)
  • Working knowledge of relational databases in ERP systems (e.g. SAP)
