About the position

The Business Analyst - Operational Risk role at Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) involves applying in-depth knowledge to improve processes and workflows within the operational risk domain. The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to influence decisions related to risk management and compliance. The analyst will support the implementation of control frameworks and governance processes, ensuring that risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of operational processes and compliance with established policies.

Responsibilities

• Apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge to develop new techniques and improve processes and workflows.
• Integrate subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area.
• Evaluate moderately complex issues with substantial potential impact, weighing various alternatives and balancing conflicting situations.
• Filter, prioritize, and validate complex material from multiple sources using good analytical skills.
• Assume informal/formal leadership roles within teams and coach new recruits.
• Influence decisions through advice and counsel in area of specialization.
• Coordinate governance and facilitate execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA).
• Contribute to the quality and accuracy of the Control Framework implementation in an Agile SDLC environment.
• Support identification of issue root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement the Lessons Learned Policy and monitor control breaches for process improvement.
• Influence decisions on control design and management to mitigate risks as per Control Standards.
• Perform analysis to support the timeliness and accuracy of the MCA through controls prior to process execution.
• Support adherence to the MCA Standard through controls after process execution.
• Contribute to Operational and Compliance Risk management in accordance with established policies.
• Identify, assess, escalate, and manage risk exposures across various Risk Categories.
• Perform analysis to support Risk Appetite and monitor exposures against it.
• Ensure accurate and timely capture of Operational and Compliance Risk events.
• Support governance and training for managing Risk profiles.
• Analyze risks associated with New Activities and changes to the Business.
• Support operational risk scenario analysis and stress testing for Capital requirements.
• Ensure risk and control responsibilities are embedded within FLUs and contribute to training.
• Implement standards and procedures that conform to enterprise requirements for risk management.
• Identify and implement control points and processes throughout the business.
• Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Experience with workflow systems.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Outstanding relationship building and management skills.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
