About the position

The Business Analyst position at Evergy focuses on the analysis of generation, interchange, and load meter data to prepare transmission and market system revenues and expenses. This role involves collaboration on system enhancements, supporting business initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The analyst will also be responsible for documenting business system requirements, overseeing system implementations, and improving division efficiency through data analysis and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for detailed analysis of generation, interchange, and load meter data submitted to regional Power Pools.
• Collaborate and coordinate system enhancements and upgrades.
• Support business initiatives and meet ongoing management needs.
• Document business system requirements for the Transmission System.
• Oversee system implementations and assist with preparation of related testing materials.
• Develop business processes, policies, design specifications, and testing activities for new business systems.
• Coordinate maintenance and support of systems with new and/or changing business requirements.
• Troubleshoot system problems and coordinate resolution of problems.
• Improve division efficiency through focus on innovation and process improvements.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex Transmission System data.
• Maintain and enhance working relationships throughout the organization by providing clear and responsive information.
• Oversee PowerBI analytics environment including design, implementation, and maintenance of reports/dashboards.
• Communicate technical settlement concepts to other work groups and external counterparties.
• Manage multiple tasks and juggle priorities to meet deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business Analytics or related field required, or five (5) years of experience in the regulated utility industry.
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases is preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong understanding of energy markets and meter data as it relates to transmission settlements.
• Analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in PowerBI analytics tool preferred.
• Proficiency with SharePoint Online.
