About the position

The Business Analyst / Product Advocate role at Headstream Technologies is a hybrid position focused on enhancing communication between stakeholders and the development team. The primary responsibility is to translate discussions into actionable user stories, ensuring they are prioritized within the development cycle. This role is pivotal in planning, tracking, and executing product features that align with the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings with stakeholders to capture detailed notes and turn them into comprehensive user stories and technical requirements.
  • Translate business needs, feature requests, and project goals into clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and development team to ensure that feature requests are appropriately prioritized and assigned to the correct sprint cycles and release schedules.
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring it aligns with the project timeline and business objectives.
  • Serve as a bridge between the business and development teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project requirements and timelines.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of user stories, features, and release plans for all stakeholders to access.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and tools to enhance communication, collaboration, and project efficiency.
  • Regularly update stakeholders on sprint progress, feature releases, and project timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Advocate, or in a similar role, preferably in a software development environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodology and sprint planning.
  • Excellent note-taking skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to write clear and concise user stories with specific acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, or similar).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and terminology is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, with a requirement to be in the Charlotte office once a week.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working directly with C-level executives and development teams.
  • Proficiency in business process analysis and improvement.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX principles and product design.
