About the position

The Product Support Business Intelligence Analyst is a key member of the Customer Support Analytics team at Astec, a global leader in manufacturing infrastructure development equipment. This role is pivotal in designing and delivering database, reporting, and dashboard solutions that align with the organization's objectives. Reporting to the Manager of Product Support Development and Analytics, the analyst will be responsible for implementing and optimizing business intelligence solutions using Oracle OTBI, BI Publisher, and SQL Server, with a focus on Customer Experience (CX), Configure Price Quote (CPQ), and other related Fusion modules. The analyst will engage in all phases of solution delivery, including requirements gathering, solution analysis, design, implementation, unit testing, documentation, user acceptance testing support, and solution deployment. This position requires a strong understanding of Product Support concepts to ensure that analyses support the overarching Product Support strategy. The analyst will also be expected to handle multiple and changing priorities while collaborating effectively with business users, development teams, technology groups, consultants, and key stakeholders. In addition to technical responsibilities, the analyst will be tasked with providing timely scheduled management reporting, following and enhancing BI standards and best practices, and engaging with third-party vendors to support various development projects. The role demands a keen attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to communicate complex data insights in a user-friendly manner. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, high-visibility team environment and will be adaptable to learning new technologies such as Azure, Power BI, and Power Apps.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and optimize business intelligence solutions using Oracle OTBI, BI Publisher, and SQL Server, focused on CX, CPQ, and other related Fusion modules.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize table schema, views, stored procedures, and functions using T-SQL.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize reporting, including visualizations in Power BI and dashboards.
  • Perform analysis, design, development, validation, and implementation of reports and visualizations, including analyzing data issues within reports.
  • Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements.
  • Participate and engage in all phases of solution delivery, including requirements gathering, solution analysis, design and implementation, solution unit testing and documentation, user acceptance testing support, and solution deployment.
  • Provide timely scheduled management reporting.
  • Follow and enhance BI standards and best practices across the team.
  • Collaborate with team members on methodology, design, and architecture.
  • Identify research questions, problem-solve using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders.
  • Review and interpret ongoing data and business reporting requirements.
  • Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables.
  • Engage with third-party vendors to support various development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, finance, accounting, or a related degree.
  • 4+ years' experience working with data warehouses is preferred, with experience in BI development, testing, and change management.
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server, T-SQL, and stored procedures.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and related reporting.
  • Experience with Oracle OTBI is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Involvement in inter-departmental projects and experience communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Keen attention to testing and quality.
  • Familiarity with source code repository management (such as Git).
  • Good written and oral communication skills, with strong technical documentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into data management issues, practices, and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
