About the position

The Business Analyst (BA) position at the client focuses on supporting multiple projects aimed at improving outcomes for Texas students. This role involves advanced business analysis work, acting as a liaison between the program/customer community and the software development team. The BA will engage throughout the software development life cycle, managing requirements specifications and ensuring fulfillment of all requirements, including post-implementation enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit requirements from interviews with customers and create well-written system requirements documents.
  • Support multiple projects and special projects as assigned.
  • Act as a conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team.
  • Manage the requirements specification and verify fulfillment of all requirements post-implementation.
  • Develop user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices.
  • Design mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating system requirements documents.
  • 8 years of experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • 8 years of experience in business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement.
  • 8 years of experience in developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices.
  • 8 years of experience in designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.
  • 5 years of strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • 5 years of strong writing and organization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of documented work experience with the requirements management software 'Modern Requirements'.
  • 3 years of documented work experience with the issue tracking software 'Atlassian Jira'.
  • 2 years of documented experience working for or closely with another state or local education agency.
