About the position

Maximus is seeking a research assistant/business analyst to support a congressionally mandated study focused on assessing nuclear energy capabilities, trade-offs, innovations, and supply chain risks. The role involves assisting the research manager in tracking project progress, compiling and evaluating research data, and coordinating with a diverse team of experts. The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders to support a critical research project that will inform future policy decisions on electrical power infrastructure and availability. A detail-oriented approach is essential for producing high-quality analyses suitable for submission to senior government leaders and Congress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the research manager in coordinating and overseeing the research project.
  • Participate in drafting proposals and selecting methods for the study.
  • Compile and organize data responses from various agencies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze collected data to identify trends, insights, and key findings related to electrical power availability.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that communicate research findings to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with government and industry partners to facilitate information exchange and support study objectives.
  • Consolidate results from literature reviews.
  • Attend project meetings and write reports summarizing progress and findings.
  • Prepare questions for data calls and collect data.
  • Conduct analysis of data and maintain quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with CI Poly due to Federal requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis software.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent teamwork and data analysis skills.
  • Proven work experience as a research assistant, business analyst, or similar role.
  • Excellent administrative skills and knowledge of research methods.
  • Ability to work under pressure and excellent time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems and related regulatory issues.
  • A degree in a field related to the study.
  • Familiarity with federal nuclear energy regulations and compliance requirements.
