About the position

The Senior Business Analyst at Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. plays a crucial role in performing detailed financial and operational analysis while acting as a business partner to various departments. This position serves as a bridge between Accounting and Operations, focusing on financial forecasting, strategic budgeting, variance analysis, and operational metrics. The analyst is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the ERP LN system and be well-versed in IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with a global mindset to cater to international customers.

Responsibilities

  • Complete monthly management reporting accurately and timely via Internal reporting tool, adhering to international parent guidelines.
  • Analyze deviations between management and financial reports, requiring a thorough understanding of standard and actual costs and the company's cost allocation methodology.
  • Maintain the Cost Allocation Sheet, including allocation key definition, actual full cost calculation per department, strategic budget model calculation, and standard rates calculation.
  • Assist with periodic forecast reporting based on the same methodology as monthly reporting.
  • Participate in business case analysis for new projects/products, including ROI and payback calculations, and monitor actual vs budget analyses.
  • Conduct profitability analysis for complex sales deals with varying options and international considerations.
  • Assist with internal control analysis and documentation.
  • Represent the Controlling Department in high-priority company projects/initiatives, effectively communicating complex cost accounting and operational data to non-financial colleagues.
  • Prepare complex internal management reports, including board presentations.
  • Support the Business Analysts with their daily tasks and strategic budget and MIN reports.
  • Review and validate monthly reporting before submission to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Accounting or related field from a four-year college or university.
  • 5 - 10 years of relevant and related work experience.
  • Experience in different ERP systems, with a preference for Baan LN.
  • Excellent and advanced computer skills, including expert MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPivot, and Power Query.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; active listening skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data.
