About the position

The Business Analyst (BA) position at the Texas Education Agency focuses on supporting multiple projects aimed at improving educational outcomes for Texas students. This senior-level role involves acting as a liaison between the program/customer community and the software development team, ensuring that requirements are effectively communicated and managed throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC). The BA will engage in various tasks, including requirements elicitation, documentation, and verification of fulfillment, while also contributing to enhancements post-implementation.

Responsibilities

• Elicit requirements from interviews with customers and create well-written system requirements documents.
• Manage the requirements specification and verify the fulfillment of all requirements, including enhancements post-implementation.
• Support multiple projects and special projects as assigned.
• Develop user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices.
• Design mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.
• Facilitate communication between the program/customer community and the software development team.

Requirements

• Minimum 9 years of experience as a business analyst.
• Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Proven skills in business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Strong writing and organization skills.
• Documented work experience with requirements management software 'Modern Requirements'.
• Documented work experience with issue tracking software 'Atlassian Jira'.
• Experience working for or closely with the Texas Education Agency or another state or local education agency.
