About the position

The Business and Data Intelligence Manager at MITRE is responsible for managing the lifecycle of analytics data, dashboards, and standard reporting. This role involves gathering business requirements, developing functional specifications, and leading a team to create and manage business intelligence solutions that transform data into actionable insights. The manager will enhance business intelligence systems and processes, ensuring effective data visualization and user interaction across various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Requirements and design for analytics and data solutions.
• Partner with the data and business analytics teams on defining solutions to meet their ad hoc and defined reporting requirements.
• Design, build, and publish interactive dashboards and visualizations using data visualization tools.
• Design, build, and publish standardized reporting for internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with the platforms and data teams to ensure data sources are accurate, available and analyzable.
• Work closely with developers and business analysts to test, clean, and standardize data to meet the business requirements.
• Experienced with dashboard creation, report authoring and troubleshooting, data source management.
• Experienced in writing and maintaining SQL queries, Python a plus.
• Work cross-functionally with various departments including business stakeholders and technical personnel to exchange ideas, solve problems, and develop innovative solutions.
• Maintain and present workflows and data flows, develop functional and technical designs, and document dashboard functionality.

Requirements

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, data science, statistics, information systems or technology, or a related field; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• 6+ years managing and leading teams.
• 6+ years of experience designing and developing business and data intelligence solutions.
• 6+ years in UI, UX space with demonstrable evidence of using user interface tools such as wire frames, prototypes, mock-ups, or white boarding.
• Experience working with large and complex data sets and able to write queries and calculations.
• Experience in Alteryx, SQL, data modeling, developing data sets, automated pipelines (ETL), creating dashboards in Looker, Google Dashboards, Data Studio, Power BI, Tableau, Quicksight, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, Tableau, and Excel.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, and machine learning algorithms.
• Empirical understanding of data systems (BI analytics, data blending, data warehousing, data ETL, etc.) on process automation and standardization.
• Skilled at recommending and making informed decisions based on data analysis and business intelligence.

• Experience partnering with corporate and business members to understand business problems and evolving requirements.
• Experience building robust data pipelines and analytical models for automated reporting and insight generation.
• Experience working in a support or development team environment by documenting, researching, solving problems via phone calls or email ticketing system.
• Experience working directly with business analysts or business sponsors to gather and validate functional requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex data insights to non-technical team members.
• Experience in managing projects, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to analyze large amounts of raw data to find patterns and optimize operations.
• Experience working in or with a Finance organization or a Finance degree.
