About the position

The Business Applications Analyst - Pharmacy plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing pharmacy business systems within UNC Health. This position collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure the effective operation of pharmacy systems, compliance with regulations, and continuous improvement in pharmacy technology. The analyst serves as a primary liaison between users and information systems, addressing issues and enhancing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts financial/operational analysis for departmental and institutional planning and process improvement.
  • Analyzes data from pharmacy technology systems to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, providing actionable insights to enhance medication safety and operational efficiency.
  • Maintains the configuration of pharmacy software systems to meet operational requirements and assists with upgrades and performance improvements.
  • Defines scope and objectives for pharmacy systems development and implementation, acting as a business expert to assist users in defining needs.
  • Oversees the modification and maintenance of multiple systems and applications to meet operational requirements.
  • Provides business process and application support to users, analyzing and resolving program or system problems.
  • Delivers training for users on system applications and coordinates employee training for new implementations.
  • Represents the department in system-wide initiatives to improve efficiency and achieve institutional goals.
  • Supports compliance with DSCSA regulations, overseeing drug tracking and reporting processes.
  • Maintains documentation of pharmacy technology and automation systems, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Develops and delivers training programs for pharmacy staff on information systems and automation technologies.
  • Manages technology-related projects impacting pharmacy departments across the health system.
  • Collaborates with operational managers to align pharmacy technology projects with strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information System Management, Math/Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience working with information systems (or more based on education level).
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills for solving complex business problems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and macros.
  • Experience in data visualization and process streamlining.
  • Solid understanding of business applications, database management, and basic SQL.
  • Excellent communication skills to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pharmacy software systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance in pharmacy operations.
