About the position

The Business Applications Analyst Senior - Deposit Operations at USAA plays a crucial role in supporting Deposit Products by acting as a bridge between business needs and IT solutions. This position involves providing system support for Fidelity Applications related to Checking, Savings, and CD products. The analyst will be responsible for documenting processes, procedures, controls, and design templates for various projects and initiatives. The role also includes delivering critical updates to product and deposit servicing capabilities, modernizing banking platforms, and identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation. In this position, the analyst will conduct complex analyses and provide business information related to specific functions, processes, and applications. They will work at a developing skill level to build, implement, and maintain application solutions that meet business needs. The analyst will lead efforts in business analysis and decision-making processes, propose changes to business processes, and provide recommendations to stakeholders regarding application and IT platform direction. The role requires maintaining an advanced understanding of business processes and applications, collaborating with team members and stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities, and documenting business requirements for application and data systems. The analyst will also be responsible for establishing system documentation standards and quality assurance methodologies, providing work direction and coaching to team members, and ensuring compliance with risk and compliance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support Deposit Products by providing system support for Fidelity Applications related to Checking, Savings, and CD products.
  • Document processes, procedures, controls, and design templates for projects and initiatives.
  • Deliver critical updates to product and deposit servicing capabilities and support the modernization of banking platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve process execution.
  • Provide analysis and business information related to specific business functions, processes, and applications/IT platforms.
  • Lead and participate in business analysis and decision-making processes, creating and maintaining application solutions.
  • Advise stakeholders on business and application/IT platform direction and modifications based on current and future needs.
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of business processes and applications, facilitating the identification and analysis of technology solutions.
  • Research complex business issues requiring advanced knowledge of business principles and theories.
  • Analyze and document business requirements for application and data systems, directing testing and implementation of new systems or changes.
  • Lead the design and administration of standards and policies regarding application/IT platform documentation.
  • Provide input on system documentation standards and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Coach team members and provide input on performance and development plans.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree (10 years of experience in lieu of a degree).
  • 6 years of work experience in analyzing IT business processes, software application/IT platform design, and/or IT documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of application/IT platform administration and the software development life cycle, including testing execution.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation related to workflow and business requirements, as well as technical functionality of IT applications/IT platform.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of risk & controls with experience identifying and fixing gaps, documenting controls, and testing those controls.
  • Successful completion of an analyst assessment may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ Years strong business acumen in financial services or related industry with experience in a high volume Core Banking transaction processing production team.
  • 2+ Years experience working with Fidelity (FIS) Systematics Applications and/or experience with research and production support for banking systems.
  • Strategic, analytical, and data-driven mentality with capacity to develop data analysis skills using SQL or other business intelligence software.
  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations including UDAAP/UDAP, Regulation CC, Regulation E (EFTA), TILA/REG Z, Regulation B (ECOA).
  • US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
