About the position

The Business Communication Program in the Department of Marketing at California State University, Fullerton, is seeking experienced writing instructors to join its part-time lecturer pool. This program is designed to provide instruction in both basic and advanced business communication, catering to the needs of students in the College of Business & Economics. The part-time lecturer pool is a temporary arrangement, allowing the department to draw on qualified applicants as needed, particularly during the Fall and Spring semesters when the demand for faculty is highest. Appointments from this pool are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, and applicants must be available on very short notice to accommodate this need. Qualified candidates will possess a strong background in teaching writing skills at the higher education level, with a focus on argumentation, logic, and the style and formatting requirements that are essential in the modern workplace. The program emphasizes the importance of effective communication in business settings, and instructors will be expected to foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student populations. Regular performance evaluations will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of part-time lecturers, which will influence future teaching assignments within the department. The initial appointment for part-time faculty is for one semester, with the potential for renewal based on performance evaluations and departmental needs. Compensation for part-time lecturers is prorated based on the number of units taught, with a typical starting range for a three-unit assignment being between $6,008.40 and $7,110 per semester. The Business Communication Program is one of the largest on campus, supporting the College of Business and Economics, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
