About the position

The Business Controls Manager at City National Bank will collaborate with the Business Control Officer and Senior Business Control Manager to enhance risk management practices and ensure alignment with the bank's risk appetite. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of risk management strategies, analyzing current practices, and fostering a robust risk culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner in the development and implementation of new programs and strategies related to risk management.
  • Analyze and evaluate current risk management practices across the organization and network affiliates.
  • Provide insights on the practical impacts of data analysis on business functions.
  • Execute essential risk program functions including Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Contribute to the development of a robust risk culture and implement preventive and detective controls.
  • Conduct research and analyze data to support organizational planning and business model adjustments.
  • Act as a liaison for business line risk management and compliance activities.
  • Represent the Business Control Office in internal and external meetings, providing feedback and escalating decisions as necessary.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships across all lines of business to identify and manage opportunities.
  • Develop concise communication materials and presentations for senior management.
  • Prioritize organizational risk management objectives and participate in special projects as needed.
  • Facilitate audit and examination activities and mentor risk talent within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years managing projects.
  • 8-10 years of experience in financial services or related fields.
  • 3 years of operational risk management control design, testing, and/or auditing experience in a financial institution.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA, JD, or other advanced degree preferred.
  • CRISC, CISSP, and/or CISM certifications preferred.
