About the position

The Asia Foundation is seeking Business Development and Proposal Technical Consultants to support proposal development functions for competitive opportunities in the Pacific Islands. The role involves working with various stakeholders to create high-quality proposals for programs focused on governance, gender equality, climate action, and education, primarily targeting donors such as USAID and DFAT. The consultants will leverage their expertise in international development to enhance the Foundation's proposal management and coordination processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support pre-positioning and capture planning for competitive funding opportunities by gathering intelligence and preparing background research.
  • Facilitate and support the proposal management and coordination process, including reviewing proposal solicitations and preparing proposal plans.
  • Research background materials to obtain relevant information and data for proposals.
  • Collaborate with The Asia Foundation's staff to design and write responsive and high-quality proposal documents and materials.
  • Review, edit, and improve the quality and responsiveness of proposal documents and materials.
  • Perform other tasks as identified to support the development of required documents in response to solicitations.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in international development or a related field preferred.
  • At least five years of experience working on competitive proposal opportunities for USAID, the United States Department of State, or DFAT.
  • At least five years of experience managing or coordinating proposal development in response to competed solicitations.
  • Knowledge of international development programming in the Pacific, specifically in governance, gender equality, and education.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural settings with an understanding of different cultures' value systems and social norms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ideally based in the Pacific Islands, Australia, or New Zealand.
  • Experience in Pacific Islands is strongly preferred.
