About the position

The Business Development and Strategic Partnerships Associate will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the Silicon Valley office of a Japanese trade and investment consulting company. This organization focuses on fostering co-innovations across various sectors, including mobility, healthcare, climate-tech, and materials. By aligning commercial interests with societal needs, the company tackles complex issues through multi-stakeholder involvement, which includes local partners and the startup ecosystem. The position is based in Palo Alto, CA, and offers a competitive salary range of $105,000 to $130,000, along with a bonus and an excellent health benefits package. In this role, the Associate will be responsible for executing business development and strategic partnership activities, as well as conducting essential business development research. The position is divided into three key areas: Project Initiatives and Operations (60%), Business Development (30%), and Partnership Building and Development (10%). The Associate will work collaboratively with project members to ensure smooth operations and increase project efficiency. This includes coordinating activities and cross-functional projects, conducting comprehensive data analysis, and providing analytical support for various industries and markets. The Associate will also facilitate new business development activities, helping project members build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external business partners. This involves developing and presenting materials for business development activities, collaborating with business groups to identify opportunities, and supporting intelligence functions. Additionally, the Associate will establish and nurture relationships with external partners, organize community and networking activities, and procure new resources to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with project members to ensure smooth operations of project initiatives.
  • Coordinate and oversee activities and cross-functional projects for both members and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis and provide analytical support for certain industries and markets using external resources.

  • Establish and nurture relationships with external partners crucial for business development and intelligence functions.
  • Organize and lead the project's participation in community and networking activities.
  • Procure new resources to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • One to four years of relevant experience in research and business development.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint.
  • Business level English and Japanese proficiency.
  • Strong writing skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Experience in supporting operations, initiatives, and administrative tasks within a corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting industry and market analysis using various external sources.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
