About the position

EchoStar Corporation is seeking a Business Development and Sales Senior Director to join our Hughes Network Systems Division, specifically within the Defense Systems team located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This role is pivotal in managing the development and sale of defense and intelligence communications systems tailored for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Communities (IC). The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the SATCOM domain and a proven track record in selling complex communications systems and service solutions to government entities. In this position, the Senior Director will represent Hughes directly to government agencies and strategic prime contractors, engaging effectively with military officers, high-ranking civilians, and senior management. The role requires the ability to hold high-level technical discussions with peers and technical personnel from both internal teams and client/partner organizations. The candidate will leverage their entrepreneurial spirit and strong desire to assist clients by utilizing exceptional business and technical skills to identify and propose effective solutions. The responsibilities include guiding business development and sales efforts to expand existing customer relationships while utilizing established networks to acquire new clients. The Senior Director will also collaborate with partners to create mutually beneficial scenarios and lead joint sales and marketing initiatives, maintaining regular communication with these partners to ensure alignment and success in achieving business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development and sale of defense and intelligence communications systems in the DoD and Intelligence Communities (IC).
  • Represent Hughes directly to government agencies and strategic prime contractors at all levels, including military officers and senior management.
  • Responsible for business development/selling and overall sales and account management.
  • Guide business development and sales efforts to expand business with existing customers and leverage existing networks to win new customers.
  • Work with partners to conceptualize win-win scenarios for collaboration.
  • Lead Hughes Network Systems activities for joint sales and marketing with partners, maintaining frequent contact and communication.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of obtaining and holding a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Bachelor's of Science required, preferably in engineering, telecommunications or computer science.
  • 10 or more years of Business Development experience in the Intelligence Community (IC).
  • 10 or more years of experience in the development and sale of Defense Communications Systems, specifically Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) SATCOM.
  • 10 or more years of experience specifying high-level satellite communications systems and network architectures for the IC.
  • 5 or more years of experience with the DoD and IC communications community, including major commands and IC customers at the national level.
  • Top Secret clearance required.
