This entry-level role is part of the Rocky Mountain business development team. The Business Development Associate will conduct market research, build client relationships, and identify new business opportunities. The individual will be charged with the development of business leads, the preparation of qualification proposals, and the follow-up and acquisition of projects. This role is crucial in driving sales and growing the business in support of the company's strategic plan. The associate will familiarize themselves with the company's vision and mission, seeking to accomplish set goals and objectives. This includes a deep learning and understanding of the technical services provided by the firm. Responsibilities include writing and managing RFQ and RFP proposals, conducting market research, cultivating strong relationships with new clients, and maintaining existing client relationships. The associate will also collate and maintain client information in the CRM database, assist in developing and implementing sales strategies, and analyze sales data to inform marketing strategies. Additionally, the associate will identify new business line opportunities and potential partners, manage all opportunities in the Oracle CRM platform, and ensure compliance with Nicholson policies. Travel to conferences, client meetings, and project sites is required, with an estimated travel commitment of 40-50% of the year, depending on seasonal demands.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and project opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Write and manage RFQ and RFP proposals from development to hand-off to the estimating team.
  • Collate and maintain client information in the CRM database.
  • Assist in developing and implementing sales strategies and client retention plans.
  • Analyze sales data to inform marketing strategies.
  • Draft business plans, sales pitches, presentations, and reference materials as required.
  • Identify new business line opportunities and potential partners.
  • Manage all opportunities in the Oracle CRM platform for the Rocky Mountain group.
  • Ensure compliance with Nicholson policies regarding safety, quality, and business ethics.
  • Travel to conferences, client meetings, and project sites as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Bachelor's degree in Business Management.
  • 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction project proposals writing and management.
  • 3 years of experience in business development, client meetings, and project evaluations.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • OSHA 10-hour training course.

  • Advanced skills in strategic vision for project acquisition.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
