About the position

Nexamp is seeking a passionate and motivated Business Development Associate to join their Utility-Scale Business Development team in Boston, MA. This role is pivotal in identifying, originating, and developing new solar opportunities across various Utility Scale target markets. As a member of this dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and contribute to the clean energy movement, which is essential for improving our environment for current and future generations. The work environment is fast-paced and mission-driven, challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the solar industry. In this position, you will be responsible for learning Nexamp's project site selection parameters and development approach. You will source new project sites through direct mailers and cold calls, evaluate potential ground and rooftop solar sites using Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, and maintain detailed reports using Salesforce and other applications. Building and preserving relationships with property owners and potential partners will be crucial, as will traveling to attend site visits, landowner meetings, and other development meetings. You will also coordinate with Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams to identify potential project flaws and actively participate in regular team meetings. This role requires a commitment to Nexamp's mission and values, as well as a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today. You will have the chance to shadow and coordinate with project developers, generate proposals and outreach materials to support project development, and provide general administrative assistance to the Business Development team as needed. Responsibilities

  • Learn Nexamp's project site selection parameters and development approach.
  • Source new project sites using direct mailers and cold calls.
  • Evaluate potential ground and rooftop solar sites using Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.
  • Maintain detailed reports using Salesforce and other applications.
  • Build and preserve relationships with property owners and potential partners.
  • Travel to attend site visits, landowner meetings, and other development meetings.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams to identify potential project flaws.
  • Understand and represent Nexamp values and business strategy.
  • Shadow and coordinate with project developers.
  • Actively participate in regular team meetings.
  • Generate proposals and outreach materials to support project development.
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Business Development team as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in the solar industry.
  • Strong sales voice; comfortable with persuasive communication style including cold-calling potential customer prospects.
  • Experience using Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Earth (or similar mapping tool).
  • Equally able to work in a team setting or independently.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects, initiatives, and data.
  • Motivated, energetic, and eager to learn new concepts and skills.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
