About the position

As a Business Development Associate at Fay, S&B USA Construction, you will play a crucial role in coordinating business development activities under the guidance of the Director of Development. Your primary focus will be on identifying, pursuing, and capturing construction opportunities, which involves conducting desktop research, managing the Salesforce CRM process, and collaborating with various teams including Estimating, Legal, Finance, and Marketing. This position requires effective communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to prepare messaging and collateral for client distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct desktop research to uncover business opportunities.
  • Attend conferences, meetups, and industry days to gather information on opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant trade associations.
  • Attend meetings and create actionable summaries/memos.
  • Manage and track all opportunities and relationships on CRM, tracking progress and facilitating action.
  • Perform primary and secondary research on competition/partners and map the construction market competitive landscape.
  • Develop internal presentations on project opportunities for senior management.
  • Coordinate internal review processes and meetings.
  • Coordinate business development efforts such as events, meetings, travel, and dinners.
  • Maintain company certifications and prequalifications for relevant owners.
  • Assist in the project bidding process by collecting necessary documentation, insurance, and bonding for bid submission.
  • Generate monthly reports on active pursuits and future opportunities.
  • Work with IT to develop changes in Salesforce CRM as needed.
  • Support Partner Due Diligence process and efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of Business Development, Sales, or Account Management experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a sense of urgency to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to produce presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and regional offices as necessary (up to 10%).
  • Construction industry experience is an advantage.
