About the position

The Business Development and Capture Manager at Applied Information Sciences (AIS) will play a pivotal role in leading efforts to identify, qualify, and capture strategic federal business opportunities across various civilian agencies. This position requires a proactive individual with a proven track record of successfully identifying and positioning for a diverse range of opportunities. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across multiple business units and delivery teams, making significant contributions to proposals and ensuring alignment with AIS's corporate goals and growth strategy. In this role, the manager will be responsible for the identification and qualification of leads through relationships, customer engagement, acquisition forecasts, and other sources. The candidate will develop a robust network of key partners to engage with for strategic pursuits and lead the capture of business unit and corporate priorities. This includes aligning solutions, staffing, and proposal content to meet the needs of federal agencies. The manager will also identify critical contract vehicles and related opportunities over a 24-36 month time horizon, providing strategic insights into core agencies, including their priorities, acquisition strategies, preferred vendors, and spending trends. Additionally, the Business Development and Capture Manager will contribute significantly to proposal content upon the release of Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Responsibilities may also extend to the development of partner and client-facing marketing collateral and the identification and support of targeted industry and federal marketing opportunities. Fostering relationships with industry technology partners will also be a key aspect of this role, ensuring AIS remains competitive and innovative in its offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify leads from relationships, customer engagement, acquisition forecasts, and other sources that advance AIS corporate goals.
  • Develop a network of key partners to engage with for strategic pursuits.
  • Lead capture of business unit and corporate priorities including alignment of solutions, staffing, and proposal content.
  • Identify critical contract vehicles and related opportunities over a 24-36 month time horizon.
  • Provide strategic insight into core agencies including understanding their priorities, acquisition strategies, preferred vendors, and spending trends.
  • Make significant contributions to proposal content upon RFP release.
  • Develop partner and client-facing marketing collateral.
  • Identify and support targeted industry and federal marketing opportunities.
  • Foster relationships with industry technology partners.

Requirements

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in business development, with 3 years delivering cloud-based solutions to federal agencies.
  • Experience winning opportunities valued at $50M or more.
  • Experience across the business development lifecycle.
  • Experience bidding and successfully winning federal IT-related contracts.
  • College degree in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience delivering solutions and/or capturing new work at the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, and/or Treasury Department.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Power Apps, and/or Dynamics.
  • Experience with generative artificial intelligence models.
