About the position

The Business Development Lead at Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. is responsible for identifying, vetting, and maturing new business opportunities within the defense intelligence markets. This role focuses on expanding YSG's presence among existing customers and exploring new organizations, ensuring the company continues its successful track record in securing government contracts for training, mission support, and professional services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and aid in analyzing, planning, research, and development of YSG's corporate growth objectives and strategic plans.
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
  • Build a pipeline of new business opportunities based on YSG's growth strategy and market trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Government and Industry partners to understand mission/program requirements.
  • Establish partnerships with industry members to position YSG for new business opportunities.
  • Qualify potential new business opportunities by analyzing market trends and business cases.
  • Develop an initial capture strategy to vet preliminary offerings with customers.
  • Promote opportunities to stakeholders to articulate opportunity viability and gain Executive approval.
  • Drive in-depth research and analysis to brief YSG executive leadership on opportunity viability.
  • Administer effective bid, pricing, teaming, and proposal strategies with the Growth team.
  • Promote the organization in industry trade associations and attend conferences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the defense or intelligence sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends and business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with government and industry partners.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans for business growth.
  • Experience in proposal development and bid strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with government contracting processes and regulations.
  • Familiarity with defense intelligence markets and related technologies.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within business development.
