About the position

The Business Development Leader is responsible for driving profitable net revenue growth within defined market segments for Wilbert Plastics Group. This role involves developing new business opportunities, managing customer relationships, and coordinating with various departments to align strategies and achieve corporate goals. The position requires strong leadership, market intelligence, and the ability to execute business development strategies effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, inspire, implement, and lead market development strategies to create and close new business opportunities.
  • Build successful business relationships with customers to achieve profitable year-over-year net revenue growth.
  • Manage expense controls associated with the approved operating budget to meet or exceed annual budget goals.
  • Attend and participate in trade shows to network and generate new business opportunities, ensuring a defined return on investment.
  • Create and deliver communication and selling tools to support the strategic selling process.
  • Provide market and customer intelligence in an easily understandable format.
  • Develop marketing and business development strategies that result in new business opportunities.
  • Provide written reports defining current activity and performance results, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
  • Conduct business analysis and marketing intelligence presentations for current and potential customers to Wilbert Management.
  • Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing Director to research potential new product offerings aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing Teams to create a supportive selling environment.
  • Provide accurate information to the Estimating Team for developing winning proposals.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Customer Service, and Manufacturing Teams to solve problems and create solutions for customers.
  • Establish executive business relationships with all customers within defined market segments.
  • Provide leadership that supports and delivers the WPS mission, vision, and value statements.
  • Support the Annual Business & Strategic Planning Process with written and verbal presentations.
  • Participate in key industry organizations and functions to promote WPS.

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of strong sales experience and success.
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and ability to convince/sell internal and external customers.
  • Strong organizational skills supported by a self-disciplined operating structure.
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills.
  • Leadership skills associated with managing people and processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other business/database programs.
  • Strong business and analytical skills.
  • Ability to create, establish, and implement viable business solutions.
  • Ability to think strategically and implement tactically.
  • Ability to work effectively with various departments including Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Human Resources, IT, Finance, and Corporate Executive Management.
