About the position

The Business Development Manager - Americas Antitrust at White & Case will play a pivotal role in driving the business strategy and priorities of the practice area. This position involves close collaboration with the Senior Manager of Business Development and partner stakeholders to execute strategic business development initiatives, enhance client and industry relationships, and improve market positioning and brand recognition. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including managing practice group operations and supporting practice development tasks such as organizing monthly team meetings and maintaining essential materials and infrastructure. As part of the Business Development, Marketing & Knowledge Team, the manager will contribute to the firm's vision of achieving profitable growth and fostering outstanding client relationships. The team is dedicated to building and nurturing relationships with a diverse range of clients, from established institutions to startups and government entities. The manager will be expected to understand the commercial drivers affecting both the firm and its clients, leveraging the firm's history and expertise to navigate complex environments effectively. The role requires a proactive approach to business development, including leading pitches, proposals, and RFPs, while also enhancing the business development skills of the practice's lawyers. The manager will devise and implement targeting and cross-selling initiatives, assist in onboarding new partners, and engage in various ad hoc projects as needed. Additionally, the position involves working closely with the firm's communications team to enhance the practice group's profile through integrated marketing campaigns and submissions for legal directories. In terms of practice development, the manager will oversee the quality of information used for pitches and proposals, conduct audits of credentials and website content, and support the Senior Manager in organizing monthly meetings. The role also includes identifying and assessing event opportunities to maximize the firm's visibility and engagement in the market. Overall, this position is integral to the firm's business development efforts and offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice and day-to-day support on a range of business development priorities.
  • Lead pitches, proposals, and RFPs, ensuring alignment with regional and global practice business plans.
  • Strengthen the business development skills of the practice's lawyers.
  • Devise and implement targeting and cross-selling initiatives and campaigns.
  • Assist with onboarding lateral partners, counsel, and connectors.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to enhance the practice group's profile.
  • Draft submissions for legal directories and award entries, coaching lawyers for directory interviews.
  • Supervise the maintenance of practice and lawyer profiles on the firm's website.
  • Identify internal and external event opportunities and assess their value and relevance.
  • Track the business development budget for relevant practice areas and assist with budget planning.

Requirements

  • At least five years of in-depth business development experience in a professional services firm.
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
  • Creative thinker with commercial and business awareness.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Client service focus and strong professional presence.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and takes initiative.
  • Long-term interest in business law.
  • International experience is a plus.
