About the position

Talascend is seeking a Veteran US Army Officer with weaponry experience for a Direct Hire Opportunity as a Business Development Manager with a Defense Weapons Systems supplier. This REMOTE role involves 45% domestic and 5% international travel. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen, possess Security Clearance, or be willing to obtain it post-employment. This medium caliber, deck mounted, Naval Gun Manufacturer is growing its U.S. operations. This global supplier has decades of experience designing, developing and delivering innovative, high quality gun systems to 40 navies internationally, offering unrivalled capabilities. Talascend is partnered with them in pursuit of highly motivated individuals with potential to grow with the organization. The Business Development Manager will be a key member of the BD Team with direct responsibility for developing new business in the land market. You will lead the development and rapid growth of business in the US for land and Foreign Military Sales programs across the portfolio of weapon systems. We are seeking an ex-US Army experienced defense industry Business Development practitioner with established links within the industry and customer base. This role reports to the Senior BD Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the implementation of US based land market opportunities in support of the growth strategy.
  • Refine the strategy for land opportunities into near term, cost effective and deliverable Capture Management Plans for each opportunity.
  • Deliver Capture Management Plans up to and including contract negotiations.
  • Support planning and execution for attendance at land and naval US trade shows and conferences.
  • Advise leadership on land warfare and land market defense business in the US.
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Interact with clients/potential clients and respond to business development enquiries about products and capabilities.
  • Conduct high-level industry research to develop effective sales solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales/design team, to include the United Kingdom sales/design team, to ensure business development strategies are achievable and executable.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Possess Security Clearance, or be willing to obtain it post-employment.
  • Experience as a US Army Officer with weaponry experience.
  • Established links within the defense industry and customer base.
  • Proven track record in business development within the defense sector.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Foreign Military Sales programs.
  • Familiarity with land warfare and defense business in the US.
  • Previous experience attending trade shows and conferences related to defense.
