About the position

The Business Development Manager (BDM) at NAPA is responsible for expanding Filters and Heavy-Duty product sales to both current and new customers across all distribution levels. This role involves executing strategic initiatives, sales promotions, and training to enhance product visibility and sales performance. The BDM will work closely with store owners and installer customers to build long-term relationships and achieve sales quotas while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Present, communicate, and sell strategic initiatives and promotions to storeowners and installer customers.
  • Manage the execution of Fleet Surveys based on customer demands.
  • Collaborate with TSM/TMOD on ISO Store Readiness and inventory levels.
  • Provide field insights to drive sales and strategic initiatives.
  • Achieve territory sales quota and train store employees on NAPA Filters and HD programs.
  • Act as an advisor to store owners to build long-term relationships.
  • Prepare stores to manage effective inventory levels based on category expertise.
  • Organize and lead category-specific sales blitzes in the assigned territory.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial targets.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to all accounts in the territory.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of assigned product lines.
  • Provide education and training to customers on assigned product lines.
  • Execute sales plans to achieve business growth opportunities.
  • Conduct periodic account reviews to update management on key progress indicators.
  • Attend and manage key promotional events and trade shows.
  • Share marketing intelligence with colleagues to identify product opportunities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of previous selling and account management experience.
  • Solid record of success in developing new business and maintaining existing business.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent sales/marketing experience.
  • Valid driver's license with no DWI convictions in the past four years and not more than three moving violations or two at-fault accidents in the last three years.
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory for account meetings and sales calls, including overnight stays as required.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Proficient with standard corporate productivity tools (email, voicemail, MS Office, Internet navigation, CRM applications).
  • High sense of urgency and customer service orientation.
  • Experience in building and developing strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent listening and empathetic skills with the ability to follow up on concerns.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Tenacity to stay with a position until the desired objective is achieved.
  • Strong written, oral, and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills for varied audiences.
  • Ability to define and resolve problems quickly.
