About the position

Hanger, Inc. is seeking a Business Development Manager I (BDM) to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. This role is pivotal in providing superior patient support and customer service through proactive intervention, communication, and patient advocacy. The BDM I will be responsible for offering emotional and educational support to patients and families dealing with limb loss and various orthotic and prosthetic needs. A thorough understanding of prosthetics, orthotics, and the medical/healthcare field is essential for this position. The BDM I will guide patients through the entire process, from initial referral and interaction to surgery, recovery, treatment, and rehabilitation. In this role, the BDM I will ensure that new patients are contacted promptly after their initial consultation and will coordinate AMPOWER visits. Building and maintaining referral relationships for Hanger Clinic is a key responsibility, as is supporting patients with amputations during their recovery process. The BDM I will keep patients engaged through follow-up communications and appointments, ensuring an excellent patient experience and continuity of care. This position requires close collaboration with Hanger prosthetic personnel, office staff, and other Business Development Managers to manage day-to-day communications with patients and healthcare providers involved in patient care. The territory for this position includes Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The BDM I will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maximize revenue from existing referral sources and generating new ones. This includes working in hospitals, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation facilities, completing all necessary vendor credentialing, and monitoring territory performance through regular review of referral reports. The BDM I will develop Sales/Growth Plans with each clinic in the assigned territory to ensure success and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior patient support and customer service via proactive intervention, communication, and patient advocacy.
  • Offer emotional and educational support to patients and families coping with limb loss and orthotic and prosthetic needs.
  • Guide patients through the spectrum of initial patient referral, surgery, recovery, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Ensure that new patients are contacted after initial consult and coordinate AMPOWER visits.
  • Build and maintain referral relationships for Hanger Clinic.
  • Support patients with amputations through the weeks post-surgery on behalf of Hanger Clinic.
  • Keep patients engaged after initial contact with follow-up communications and appointments.
  • Provide new patients and their families with information, resources, advice, and counsel on the process and options for fitting with a prosthetic/orthotic device.
  • Assist existing patients with upcoming visits and fittings.
  • Assist with obtaining appropriate clinical documentation for insurance coverage.
  • Maintain communication with associated health professionals and provide updates on follow-up visits with surgeons.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue from existing referral sources and generate new referral sources.
  • Work in hospitals, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation facilities, completing all necessary vendor credentialing.
  • Monitor territory performance through regular review of referral reports, looking for drops in business flow.
  • Develop Sales/Growth Plans with each clinic in the assigned territory.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a patient care environment.
  • Ability to be credentialed at major hospitals.
  • Preferred certifications include ATC, CNA, MA, EMT, Surgical Technician, LVN, PTA, Physician Extenders, OTA, or similar.
  • BA/BS in Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Medical sales experience, particularly in therapeutic sales, home health sales, or hospice sales, with a focus on selling services rather than products/devices is strongly preferred.
  • Highly motivated and target-driven with a proven track record in sales.
  • Ability to operate independently in a self-directed manner.
  • Ability to cultivate customer relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and experience with Salesforce.com preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to client locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in medical sales, particularly in therapeutic or home health sales.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com.
