About the position

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for Latin America at AEM is responsible for driving growth through new and existing clients and partners in the region. This role focuses on promoting AEM's innovative environmental monitoring solutions, including weather and hydrological sensing systems, to various sectors such as government agencies and heavy industries. The BDM will work closely with the Director of International Sales and the Chief Commercial Officer to achieve sales goals and develop strategic market plans.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the go-to-market (GTM) team to develop and execute a territory plan.
  • Identify and qualify new customers and partners within target market segments.
  • Build strong business relationships with key customer and partner personnel.
  • Promote AEM's full solution set, including design, implementation, and managed services.
  • Stay informed on regulatory, funding, technologies, and competitors in target markets.
  • Coordinate with operations personnel to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee bid requirements and coordinate proposal development.
  • Track and manage sales and lead generation activities in Salesforce.
  • Negotiate and execute contracts, securing necessary approvals.
  • Manage customer and partner accounts to ensure timely revenue generation.
  • Educate customers and partners on the value of AEM solutions.
  • Represent AEM at regional conferences and events.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of enterprise sales or business development experience with a proven record of accomplishment.
  • Minimum 3+ years managing customers and partners in Latin America.
  • Significant knowledge or experience in weather or hydrology decision support solutions.
  • Proven record of sales accomplishment achieving growth objectives.
  • BS degree in engineering, meteorology, hydrology, environmental science, business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Native fluency in Spanish; Brazilian Portuguese a plus.
  • Strong Salesforce and Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and presentation communications skills.
  • Experience selling complex technology and solutions, including some technical expertise a plus.
  • Record of demonstrating sound business judgement and making successful recommendations.
  • Experience managing multiple complex pursuits under tight deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public sector agencies related to weather, water, or disaster management.
  • Technical expertise in environmental monitoring technologies.
