About the position

In this role as a Business Development Manager for National Accounts K12, you will be responsible for delivering top-line sales and bottom-line profit targets specifically for K12 customers. Your primary focus will be on increasing penetration with current K12 customers while also acquiring new K12 customers, particularly targeting the top 200 accounts. This position requires a strong emphasis on business development, where you will identify and pursue profitable growth opportunities within the K12 segment. You will be tasked with building, managing, and delivering results against incremental growth opportunities within the K12 segment. Achieving financial results will be a key responsibility, which includes acquiring, penetrating, and retaining customers. You will need to build and maintain relationships with key existing K12 customers to enhance penetration and also focus on acquiring new customer locations. Developing customer-specific business development plans within your book of business will be essential to your success. Additionally, you will develop and execute strategies aimed at driving brand and category growth to exceed sales and profit goals. Managing and growing USDA Foods inventory within identified markets will also be part of your responsibilities. Coordination with Field Sales management will be necessary for in-market execution against high-priority initiatives. You will identify growth opportunities within key K12 scopes and lead efforts to commercialize these opportunities through the JM Smucker Away from Home organization. Your role will also involve business planning and analyses, where you will manage broker partner relationships, communicate strategic direction, and hold them accountable. Analyzing business to discover new ways to penetrate existing and acquire new K12 business will be crucial, including whitespace campaigns and promotions. You will work cross-functionally to gain marketing and finance support to achieve your goals, owning the Annual Joint Business Planning, Quarterly Business Reviews, and other identified meetings. To accelerate team performance, you will drive the business planning and activation process while working closely with cross-functional business partners such as Revenue Growth Management, Research & Development, Finance, Legal, and Marketing. You will receive direction from your people manager, the National Account Executive, on opportunities to improve key customer performance and participate in assigned projects. Your insights into the K12 market will be valuable to internal teams as you drive strategic partnerships and maintain a long-term focus with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience calling on K12 Segment and/or directing K12 business
  • Ability to craft and foster top-to-top relationships across major industry and supply chain customers
  • Understanding of the K-12 Supply chain customers' needs and opportunities
  • Knowledge and proven success in working with USDA Foods
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive business results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of customer strategies
  • Act as a role model, share successes/opportunities with team

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-5 years of experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) Foodservice Sales
