About the position

The Business Development Manager for New Food at GEA Systems North America is a pivotal role focused on the development and establishment of New Food activities in alignment with the Global New Food organization's strategy. This position requires active participation in the formulation of strategies that will drive the business forward, ensuring that all initiatives are in sync with the overarching goals of the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering budgets and mid-term plans for Global New Food Order Intake (OI), which includes business development, order intake, and sales. In this role, the Business Development Manager will be accountable for achieving targets related to Order Intake, Sales, Gross Margin, and EBITDA for GEA New Food. This includes developing and executing a comprehensive business plan for New Food, ensuring that all legal and regulatory documents are filed appropriately, and monitoring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The manager will also be tasked with developing and implementing standards, controls, systems, and procedures, along with conducting regular evaluations to ensure effectiveness. The position requires a strong focus on sales, process engineering, and sales support, ensuring a seamless transition to engineering teams. The manager will create a work environment that attracts, retains, and supports high-quality staff, specifying accountabilities for management personnel and regularly evaluating their performance. Collaboration is key, as the manager will align targets and ambitions across various business units, competence centers, divisions, and functions. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the strategic direction and initiatives of GEA New Food, implementing business unit strategies, and supporting other corporate initiatives as necessary. Compliance with GEA guidelines in approval and compliance processes is also a critical aspect of this position, along with championing the values and objectives of GEA and LPT NAM.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in strategy development together and in alignment with the BL New Food
  • Prepares and delivers budgets and mid-term plans for Global NF OI including business development, order intake and sales
  • Accountable for delivering targets for Order Intake, Sales, Gross Margin, EBITDA for GEA NF
  • Develops and executes business plan for NF
  • Assures the filing of all legal and regulatory documents and monitors compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Develops and implements standards and controls, systems and procedures and regular evaluation
  • Responsible for sales, process engineering and sales support as well as a seamless handover to engineering
  • Assures a work environment that recruits, retains and supports quality staff
  • Specifies accountabilities for management personnel and evaluates performance regularly
  • Aligns targets and ambitions and secures support across business units, competence centers, divisions and functions
  • Contributes to the development of GEA NF strategic direction and initiatives
  • Implements business unit strategic direction and initiatives relevant for BL NF
  • Supports other strategic and corporate initiatives as required
  • Ensures approval processes follow GEA guidelines - CRM, E-approval, PADB (and others where applicable)
  • Ensures compliance processes follow GEA guidelines - project management, procurement, QSHE and business compliance
  • Engages and champions the values, aspirations and objectives of GEA and LPT NAM

Requirements

  • Engineering and Business-related qualification is required and should be supported by significant work experience
  • Biotechnology or Mechanical Engineering degree or similar degree required
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in similar functions in biotech or food manufacturing
  • Experience in Matrix organizations, especially influencing and leading without direct authority is an advantage
  • Experience in international negotiation & contracting
  • Experience in sales and budget planning
  • Experience in change management is beneficial
