About the position

The Business Development Manager - Offshore Wind at Hitachi Energy is responsible for driving business growth in the offshore wind sector. This role involves understanding customer needs, assessing project viability, and leading capture teams to secure large-scale contracts. The manager will engage with various stakeholders and maintain momentum throughout lengthy sales cycles, ensuring alignment with the company's core values of safety and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and understand customer needs, projecting solutions accordingly.
  • Assess the viability of large projects from historical, financial, competitive, risk, and execution perspectives.
  • Propose optimum partner, suppliers, and contract execution setups.
  • Initiate, coordinate, launch, and lead capture teams for each individual pursuit, ensuring interaction across all organizational levels.
  • Maintain momentum of a large virtual EP team during multiyear sales cycles, collaborating with key internal and external suppliers.
  • Prepare materials for internal governance and approval processes.
  • Participate as a senior representative or leader in final sales negotiations for multi-hundred-million-dollar projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the energy industry, particularly in EP projects, transmission & distribution, or utility/transmission development.
  • Background in HVDC is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex pursuits in a matrix organization and a proven record of closing multi-hundred-million-dollar contracts.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with key stakeholders.
  • A keen interest in complexities, a sense of urgency, and persistence in achieving goals.
