About the position

SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America. The Business Development Manager - Operations & Maintenance will be responsible for managing client relationships, seeking out new opportunities, and driving revenue growth for our Operations and Maintenance team. This position offers hybrid or remote opportunities, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy solutions market and client development principles within a professional service industry setting. The Business Development Manager will engage in prospecting and qualification of new clients and opportunities through both in-person and remote networking efforts. The successful candidate will possess a high-level ability to articulate all service offerings while developing an in-depth understanding of SOLV's Operations and Maintenance services specifically. This includes liaising closely with the Business Development team to coordinate SOLV's pursuit of project opportunities, responding to formal RFP processes, and engaging in bi-lateral negotiations. The role also involves reviewing incoming RFPs, summarizing key opportunity parameters, leading pursuit efforts, managing communications and deliverables to clients, and preparing proposals and quotes using company-provided templates and tools. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining records and workflows in business operations platforms such as CRM and shared folders, taking accurate meeting minutes, and tracking assigned deliverables. The position requires a fluent working knowledge of renewable energy subject matter, particularly utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems, to facilitate effective performance of duties. The candidate will also be expected to maintain engagement between quote submittal and contract signature, attend industry events, and stay updated on industry news for project announcements, sales, and transfers. This role may involve additional duties and tasks to support Business Development efforts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Account management of existing client base and development of new client relationships.
  • Understanding of renewable energy solutions market and client development principles in a professional service industry setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in science or technology preferred.
  • Experience in utility-scale solar and storage, or adjacent energy or construction industry preferred.
  • Network of existing industry contacts preferred.
  • Basic understanding of utility-scale solar design and engineering principles preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Detail- and task-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Teamwork ethos and self-motivated.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn and synthesize new information quickly.
  • Proficient in online document management and computer/web-based programs, such as Microsoft Suite and CRMs.
  • Ability to interact with external and internal clients professionally.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to accommodate overnight travel if needed for job walks, Owner meetings, conferences, etc.
