About the position

The Business Development Manager at First Children's Finance (FCF) plays a crucial role in leading business development activities in Oregon. This position is designed for a professional who is passionate about enhancing the sustainability and supply of excellent child care services. The incumbent will provide direct business and financial planning, consultation, training, and support to early care and education (ECE) providers. Additionally, the role involves promoting FCF and its programs, supporting fund development activities, and connecting with diverse stakeholders, partners, and constituents in the community. This position is remote but requires the candidate to be based in Oregon. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Oregon State Director to ensure the effectiveness of FCF's core programs. Responsibilities include community engagement, building local partnerships, and securing additional funding. The role requires the development, promotion, and implementation of programs statewide, ensuring that program goals and contract deliverables are met. The manager will also build strong partnerships with regional stakeholders in early care and education, maintaining relationships with funders from both public and private sectors. In addition to managing program activities, the Business Development Manager will provide training and consultation to individual child care business owners and external partners to strengthen child care businesses and increase the supply of child care. The position also involves supervising a team of Business Development Specialists, ensuring they receive the necessary training and ongoing support to effectively utilize FCF tools and programs. The role requires a systems thinker who can maintain a big-picture focus while attending to detail, and who is open to learning and accepting feedback. The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and highly organized, with the ability to work independently while being part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development activities in Oregon.
  • Provide direct business and financial planning, consultation, training, and support to ECE providers.
  • Promote FCF and its programs and services.
  • Support fund development activities and connect with diverse stakeholders.
  • Work with the Oregon State Director to develop, promote, and implement programs statewide.
  • Build strong partnerships with regional stakeholders in early care and education.
  • Provide training and consultation to individual child care business owners and external partners.
  • Manage scheduling of program activities and distribution of tasks across the Oregon Team.
  • Manage implementation of rural community programs and collaborate with the Oregon Director on program strategies.
  • Engage with state partners to discuss child care policy implementation and impact.
  • Develop new and update existing trainings and tools for child care business owners.
  • Input, manage, and analyze external data related to child care supply and internal program data.
  • Supervise a team of Business Development Specialists and ensure they receive training and ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of consulting, training, and public speaking experience.
  • 2 years of community development or engagement experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with small businesses in low to moderate income diverse communities.
  • Some experience with early education or child care.
