About the position

The Business Development Manager (BDM) at Ryder is responsible for developing new customer business within the assigned sales territory of Las Vegas. This role focuses on educating prospects about Ryder's services and creating value perceptions through strategic sales planning and analysis. The BDM is expected to be a proactive hunter with experience in contractual sales, driving revenue growth through effective account management and relationship building.

Responsibilities

  • Develop pre-sales strategy for target accounts.
  • Create a sales activity pipeline to meet and exceed quota revenues.
  • Respond proactively to leads provided.
  • Represent the full spectrum of Ryder services.
  • Collaborate with Account Representatives (ARs) and Customer Development Managers (CDMs) to transition accounts and increase sales opportunities.
  • Work with National Sales to generate sales opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Complete new customer orientation processes.
  • Develop account selling strategies to improve effectiveness.
  • Report sales activity to management and ensure compliance with sales protocols.
  • Create supportive working relationships with Customer Business Units (CBUs).
  • Conduct quality needs assessments and prepare value-based proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience required.
  • Five or more years of demonstrated sales excellence in prior roles required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Good understanding of Ryder's product offerings preferred.
