About the position

The USCA Business Development Manager for Packaging Coatings at PPG is a pivotal role focused on developing and managing relationships with strategically targeted US accounts to enhance PPG's market share. This position requires a proactive approach to increase sales and volume, ensuring that the business meets its financial objectives. The manager will interface with various levels of the PPG organization as well as customer personnel, aiming to promote PPG's offerings and secure approvals for new business opportunities across customer locations. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering sales and volume that meet or exceed planned targets. This involves cultivating a robust business pipeline by engaging both new and existing customers. You will need to effectively communicate customer needs to various PPG functions and regions, ensuring that the organization is aligned and responsive to those needs. Additionally, you will coordinate functions for issue resolution and escalation, mobilizing PPG resources to support customer factories during product launches. A deep understanding of PPG's product portfolio, including the XSBU, is essential for value selling. You will also need to analyze the competitive landscape, identify current and future market gaps, and prioritize resource allocation to improve PPG's market position. This role is integral to ensuring that PPG remains competitive and responsive to customer demands, ultimately driving growth and success in the Packaging Coatings business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales and volume at or above plan
  • Develop and cultivate new business pipeline to deliver sales and volume above the plan with both new and existing customers
  • Interface with various customer personnel to promote PPG, gain approvals, and position PPG to be considered for new business at all customer locations
  • Communicate customer's needs to the various PPG functions and regions
  • Coordinate functions for issue resolution and escalation
  • Mobilize PPG resources to support customer factories during the launch process
  • Fully understand PPG's product portfolio (XSBU inclusive) and benefits to ensure value selling
  • Understand the competitive landscape, current gaps and anticipate future gaps to improve PPG's market position
  • Prioritize resource allocation
  • Ensure alignment between regions, function and customer needs

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in diverse roles with demonstrated career progression in sales and marketing
  • Outstanding executive communication skills
  • University degree (Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering)
