About the position

The Business Development Manager, Portfolio & Strategy at Hydro is responsible for identifying and analyzing growth opportunities within the aluminum value chain. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to define Hydro's strategic direction in a dynamic business unit, focusing on both current assets and potential acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new growth opportunities across the entire value chain of the business unit, from scrap sourcing and sorting to the production of aluminum products.
  • Determine potential acquisition targets, perform detailed valuation analyses, and participate in teams to pursue acquisition opportunities.
  • Collaborate with asset managers to further develop Hydro's current asset portfolio.
  • Perform profitability analyses of investment proposals.
  • Support the North American management team with the analysis of market data and trends for a high-growth, sustainable and future-oriented business unit.
  • Mature the identified opportunities in connection with project teams, acting as the project manager for specific assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant discipline is required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience with strategic business growth activities and strategy is required.
  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to move projects from analysis to implementation.
  • Competence in applying quantitative and analytical methods to business opportunities.
  • Financial acumen and affinity for market trends and opportunities.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, knowledge of PowerBI and SAP is desirable.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to align stakeholders to a common goal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage internal and external resources to deliver projects.
  • Familiarity with matrix organizations and international business operations are both desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the aluminum or metals industry is desirable.
