About the position

The Business Development Manager for Radar will lead a dedicated team focused on achieving both immediate targets and long-term strategic goals. This role is pivotal in identifying and soliciting potential business opportunities that align with the division's strategic plan. The manager will be responsible for promoting and maintaining robust business relationships, ensuring that the highest standards of customer and supplier interactions are upheld, either directly or through their team. The position involves leading capture activities for critical opportunities, developing strategic plans, policies, procedures, and initiatives that drive the business forward. In addition to these responsibilities, the Business Development Manager will participate in industry events such as trade shows and conferences, which may require travel. They will prepare account analyses and sales reports as needed, coordinating and communicating matters of mutual concern with both internal and external teams. The manager will also play a key role in identifying and contributing to new product development and enhancements, while maintaining a competitive edge by disseminating information regarding pricing, products, and market issues. Furthermore, the role includes assisting with the evaluation of potential acquisitions or partnerships, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of the industry. This position requires a strong understanding of the Department of Defense Acquisition process and familiarity with foreign military and direct commercial sales. The ideal candidate will possess strong sales and service skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A current secret level clearance or the ability to obtain one is also required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a business development team to meet both near term targets and strategic goals.
  • Identify and solicit potential business that fits the division strategic plan.
  • Promote and maintain the highest possible business relationships.
  • Lead capture activities of critical opportunities.
  • Develop strategic plans, policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Participate in industry events such as trade shows, conferences, and other travel as required.
  • Promote and maintain the highest possible customer or supplier relationship, either directly or through the team.
  • Prepare account analysis and/or sales reports as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate matters of mutual concern with internal and external teams.
  • Identify and contribute to new products and product enhancement opportunities.
  • Maintain and disseminate competitive information gained regarding pricing, products, or general issues in the market.
  • Demonstrate the guiding principles of Aerostar.
  • Assist with the evaluation of potential acquisitions or partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical, business or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience required; or experience in lieu of education.
  • Previous capture management or proposal management experience.
  • Preferred experience with electronics and or military systems.
  • Current secret level clearance or ability to obtain secret level clearance required.
  • Strong sales and service skills.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense Acquisition process.
  • Knowledge of foreign military and or direct commercial sales.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with a computer, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
