About the position

The Business Development Manager at Bilfinger Inc. plays a crucial role in driving business growth opportunities within the Pulp & Paper (P&P) industry. This position is integral to the organization’s long-range strategic plans, focusing primarily on construction, mechanical, and fabric maintenance services. The manager will engage in routine client interactions, gather intelligence through market research, and develop comprehensive growth plans for existing clients while also strategizing to capture new customers. The role requires maintaining strong relationships with current clients and establishing new contacts across all levels of client organizations, ensuring that Bilfinger's services are effectively communicated and positioned to meet client needs. In addition to client engagement, the Business Development Manager will conduct market research and analysis to identify potential business opportunities. This includes supporting the marketing team in planning client-specific events and aligning business development strategies with the annual budget to meet operational goals. The manager will lead sales functions, including entering sales leads into the company’s booking software (Salesforce) and generating sales reports. The role also involves researching industry trends, competitor activities, and client data to inform strategic decisions. The Business Development Manager will facilitate the creation of presentations and marketing materials that highlight Bilfinger's value propositions to target customers. Collaboration with other departments and global networking groups is essential to differentiate Bilfinger in the market and develop a strategic perspective on emerging markets and technologies. The manager will also assist with ad-hoc management requests and special projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform market research and analysis on relevant service line business potential.
  • Support the marketing lead with development of client specific annual event planning, including priority industry networking/conference events.
  • Assist with the business development and marketing planning to align with the annual budget, ensuring plans are in place to meet operational goals.
  • Lead the sales force related functions relating to entering their individual sales leads and produce sales reports into company booking software (Salesforce).
  • Research and report on industry, competitor, and client data.
  • Facilitate the development of presentations and other marketing material for target customers and lead the process to deliver the key value-proposition points.
  • Support the proposal and operations team in developing proposals, qualifications, or other requests specific to their targeted client base.
  • Collaborate with other departments and global networking groups as appropriate to help differentiate Bilfinger and develop strategic perspective on new markets or technologies.
  • Assist management with ad-hoc requests, including special projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with preparation of management reports.
  • Observe and comply with all safety rules.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience, with emphasis on fabric maintenance, mechanical maintenance and construction services.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years' experience with contracts negotiation, management, and long-term service agreements.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Willingness to work both independently and as a team to meet quick deadlines and objectives.
  • Ability to travel routinely via airplane and/or vehicle, often for consecutive days.
  • Required to lead the process of developing customer presentations and develop the value-added proposition to effectively pursue RFP/RFQ to award.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of construction and maintenance services provided in the oil and gas, and/or chemical industry.
  • Demonstrated skill in the development of business proposals.
  • Working knowledge of various contract and commercial proposal structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with customers.
