About the position

As a Business Development Manager at Interstate Batteries, you will play a crucial role in securing profitable incremental unit growth by identifying, qualifying, documenting, and partnering with customers in targeted market segments within your assigned territory. Your primary focus will be to collaborate effectively with assigned Distributor teams, including local sales and account management personnel, to meet established unit sales objectives. You will act as a commercial sales leader within your territory, mentoring local sales representatives, sharing best practices, and providing leads for them to pursue within the local sales segment. Your responsibilities will include meeting or exceeding annual unit production goals across various customer segments, including Regional Account, Jobber, and Non-Mandated National Account customers. You will also be tasked with generating unit volume through individual sales efforts by identifying, qualifying, and partnering with quality dealers using proven targeted growth strategies and Interstate's value proposition. A key component of your role will be to create a territory sales plan that considers ideal targets and ties into your weekly planning activities. In this position, you will dynamically prioritize your time and focus based on relevant market inputs, establish credibility by using industry insights and product knowledge, and uncover prospects' challenges to demonstrate your ability to close sales consistently. You will participate in assigned Regional Blitzes, effectively communicate the value of the Warehouse Distributor and Jobber program, and manage new account relationships to ensure successful launches and overall growth for new partners. Additionally, you will document customer and prospect interactions in Salesforce.com, manage your territory proactively, and attend sales team meetings to contribute actively. Your role will also involve driving personal and professional growth through various development programs and utilizing data to plan and make necessary adjustments to maximize production. Following all safety procedures regarding handling and transporting batteries will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Secure profitable incremental unit growth by identifying, qualifying, documenting, and partnering with customers in targeted market segments.
  • Collaborate with assigned Distributor teams to meet established unit sales objectives.
  • Act as a commercial sales leader by mentoring local sales representatives and sharing best practices.

  • Manage new account relationships ensuring a successful launch and growth for new partners.
  • Develop and professionally communicate presentations and solutions.
  • Coordinate transitions with Account Management team on secured accounts.
  • Proactively manage territory by reviewing production and participating in bi-weekly sessions.
  • Document customer and prospect interactions in Salesforce.com and ensure pipeline accuracy.
  • Manage return on investment for distributor visits and develop an objective and agenda for each week.
  • Attend and contribute to sales team meetings through active preparation and participation.
  • Share qualified leads with other business segments.
  • Drive personal and professional growth using the Game Plan, seminars, and workshops.
  • Utilize data to plan and make necessary adjustments to maximize production.
  • Follow all safety procedures regarding handling and transporting batteries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent)
  • 4+ years B2B/Commercial sales experience required
  • Solid track record as a top performer or award winner
  • Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service and business development skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple opportunities
  • Knowledge of the Automotive Parts Aftermarket channel strongly preferred
  • Salesforce.com or other well-known CRM experience
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work and travel independently on a sustained basis
  • Self-motivated
  • Successful completion of a post-offer criminal background check is required prior to beginning work.
  • Must live within two (2) hours' drive of a commercial airport
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
