About the position

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the direct and indirect sales efforts for the Thermal Services business segment at Vertiv. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to managing thermal contracts, installed solutions, extended warranties, thermal parts, and engineering services. The Business Development Manager is tasked with supporting various sales teams, including the Vertiv Local Vertiv Offices (LVO's), Factory Direct Offices (FDO's), Major Account Sales, and Global Strategic Account sales teams, in promoting and selling Vertiv's comprehensive line of Thermal Services. In this role, the Business Development Manager is responsible for developing an overall area strategy aimed at meeting or exceeding established order targets for all Thermal Service contracts and installed solutions within the designated area. This includes performing regular sales calls on existing Strategic, Named, and Key Accounts to identify new opportunities and expand existing thermal services and parts offerings. The position also involves the development and implementation of partnering strategies with LVO's, providing support and training to LVO's sales teams, and coordinating local marketing efforts as part of annual business planning. The Business Development Manager must attain sales quotas and planning goals across all assigned product and program areas, which may involve conducting site walks, customer presentations, and technical reviews to identify, pursue, and close thermal service and parts opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop overall area strategy to meet or exceed established orders targets for Thermal Service contracts and installed solutions.
  • Perform regular sales calls on existing Strategic, Named, and Key Accounts to establish new and expand existing thermal services and parts opportunities.
  • Develop and implement partnering strategies with LVO's and support their sales teams through training.
  • Coordinate local marketing efforts as part of annual business planning.
  • Attain sales quotas and planning goals in all assigned product and program areas.
  • Conduct site walks, customer presentations, and technical reviews to identify, pursue, and close thermal service and parts opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of service sales experience.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively in challenging situations with both internal and external groups.
  • Working knowledge of Data Center & Communication Industries preferred.
  • Familiarity with Vertiv thermal products and services is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage and prioritize leads through multiple channels.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and capability to resolve contract and product issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
