About the position

The Business Development Manager will oversee the full sales lifecycle, focusing on freight forwarding requirements for prospective clients. This role involves engaging in detailed discovery conversations, establishing a book of business, and presenting the company's service offerings. The position requires a proactive approach to sales and collaboration with internal teams to enhance market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Seek out and establish a book of business through prospecting and networking.
  • Utilize cold calling, electronic media, seminars, trade shows, and in-person presentations to generate leads.
  • Present company service offerings, including Ocean Import/Export, Air Import/Export, Distribution & Warehousing, Trucking, Cargo Insurance, and Customs Brokerage.
  • Meet monthly revenue quotas set by Sales management.
  • Collaborate with CRM Specialists to enhance sales presence in the local market.
  • Maintain communication with internal teams and overseas offices.
  • Travel locally to meet with clients and conduct presentations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience directly selling Ocean and/or Air services within a freight forwarding environment.
  • Previous experience with the ERP system, CargoWise One, is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Solid understanding of local territory and market opportunities.
  • High emotional intelligence, personal integrity, and a hunter mentality.
  • Willingness to travel locally for client meetings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
