About the position

The Business Development Manager at Zurich North America is responsible for driving profitable growth by selling a diverse range of insurance solutions, including Supplemental Gap Medical, Accident Medical Expense, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness products. This role involves developing strong relationships with distributors, creating business plans to optimize opportunities, and managing the existing portfolio to ensure alignment with market strategies. The position requires a proactive approach to achieving sales targets and maintaining a robust sales pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for sales targets and seeking new and renewal account opportunities.
• Conduct discussions with distributors to develop detailed distributor profiles.
• Complete and maintain detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Create business plans with key distributors leveraging Zurich's insurance products and services.
• Build strong business relationships at multiple levels of the distributor's organization.
• Conduct regular sales calls with distributors based on opportunity and need.
• Work with Business Units to execute distributor business plans.
• Conduct periodic reviews with distributors and manage their performance to ensure execution of the business plan.
• Qualify accounts to meet Zurich's appetite.
• Negotiate to close accounts with distributors in partnership with underwriters.
• Drive and manage processes to increase Zurich product density at existing accounts.
• Build internal relationships with Zurich Business Units for a unified market approach.
• Serve as the escalation point for distributors on service and business issues.
• Manage the sales pipeline and achieve goals related to sales calls, submissions, hit ratios, and production.
• Effectively execute sales strategies and campaigns.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Sales area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Sales area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Sales area.
