About the position

The Business Development Manager at Chart Industries is responsible for developing strategic business plans and budgets, establishing new customer relationships, and supporting existing key customers. This role focuses on driving sales and marketing strategies, enhancing customer success, and collaborating with various business units to maximize market opportunities. The position requires a strong understanding of the industrial and power markets, particularly in the energy sector, and involves a significant amount of travel to various locations across North America and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic territory business plans, budgets, and forecasts by product and market.
  • Establish new customers and support existing key customers.
  • Provide insights into customer/market opportunities, data analysis, competitive intelligence, and trends to drive Aftermarket Strategy.
  • Lead and execute internal/external sales strategies to enable customer success.
  • Collaborate with the Aftermarket Team to develop and communicate integration and cross-functional competencies.
  • Establish and communicate SMART goals and objectives alongside management peers.
  • Increase visibility of the Install Base and generate opportunities by evaluating the market against competitors.
  • Assist Sales in closing contracts by providing value propositions and key positioning.
  • Provide accurate reports to monitor performance measurements and targets established for Sales.
  • Increase sales effectiveness through educational offerings and marketing materials.
  • Evaluate customer needs and introduce bundling opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Focus on the selection, development, and retention of key sales personnel in coordination with Key Account Management.
  • Promote and sustain a continuous improvement culture.
  • Gather critical site information to prospect for additional opportunities and improve global visibility of the Aftermarket business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business-related area or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, including sales, marketing, product management, and customer service.
  • Intimate understanding of the Industrial & Power markets related to the Energy Industry.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment in the air and gas handling industry.
  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience in managing distribution, packaging, and sales representatives.
  • Strong selling and customer/market development skills.
  • Strong negotiation and customer issue resolution skills.
  • Effective analytical skills and proven ability to negotiate terms and conditions.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
