We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Sales Practice team, focusing on state-wide municipalities and county infrastructure in Colorado. This role is pivotal in supporting SEH's growth goals by developing new client sales for our Civil, Structural, and Transportation/Traffic practices. The successful candidate will engage in a full range of community and economic development activities on behalf of SEH clients. In this position, you will be responsible for generating new leads, building brand awareness, and positioning SEH to win new infrastructure work. We are looking for an outgoing individual with strong connections within Colorado communities, including state, cities, counties, MPOs/COGs, and TPRs. Your role will involve leveraging your extensive professional network, meeting with clients, and developing new opportunities that align SEH's services to solve clients' challenges. Ultimately, we seek someone who loves building strong relationships and making a difference in the community. SEH is an employee-owned collective of engineers, architects, planners, and scientists, providing technically advanced, sustainable solutions for government, commercial, and industrial partners nationwide. This position will report through our West Region and offers flexibility in work arrangements, whether in one of our SEH offices, a hybrid environment, or fully remote. We also host numerous social events throughout the year to keep everyone connected, including happy hours, Rooftop Rockies games, summer parties, and chili cookoff competitions. Responsibilities

  • Communicate information on the wide disciplines of SEH services to prospective clients.
  • Develop relationships with key target clients and teaming partners; generate and develop leads for new client sales.
  • Coordinate regularly with internal SEH practices to increase team selling, develop strong brand loyalty, networking opportunities, and generate new client leads.
  • Prepare, maintain, and execute client strategy plans.
  • Develop a pipeline of opportunities and achieve new annual business targets.
  • Represent SEH at conferences and professional organizations to expand brand recognition and promote business development activities.
  • Respond to inquiries from SEH clients and SEH staff to solve community and economic development, and infrastructure needs.
  • Assist clients with needs assessment processes, preparation of applications for funding, and provide administration services of successfully funded projects.
  • Identify scope and availability of financing and interface with funding agencies to assess the feasibility of successful funding opportunities.
  • Attend client meetings and share financing information that is accurate, current, and available to SEH clients.
  • Communicate information, both orally and in writing, to a diverse audience including state and federal agencies, local units of government, specialized professionals, residents, and community groups.
  • Develop project proposals that successfully meet all the requirements set forth by funding agencies.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local government officials, County, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Enter and maintain current accurate sales information with SEH's Client Relationship Management (CRM).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in solving community and economic development issues and funding issues, as well as governmental administration, and understanding how Colorado infrastructure projects are funded.
  • Advanced skill level using word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects through prioritization and workload scheduling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to accurately and professionally present information to all levels of individuals both internal and external.
  • Strong networking skills and an extensive network of contacts throughout the State of Colorado.
  • Personal transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Proven track record in business development.
  • Availability to attend night meetings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Eight plus years of experience working with local, state, and federal funding sources.
  • Extensive professional network and history working with Colorado MPOs and TPRs, CDOT, Colorado counties and cities.
  • Recent work experience in a public-infrastructure-related role.
  • Strong knowledge about and experience with Colorado funding programs, agencies, communities, and businesses.
  • Planning-level understanding about municipal infrastructure; ability to obtain project information well ahead of any RFPs.
  • Relationships with DBE firms and other strategic teaming partners.
