About the position

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team in Houston, Texas. As an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company, we specialize in a variety of services including air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage, and other supply chain management services. The BDM will play a crucial role in increasing gross profit and market share while fostering ongoing relationships with both new and existing customers. In this position, the BDM will utilize market data to develop effective sales strategies aimed at expanding our SILVER, GOLD, and PLATINUM customer base. A thorough knowledge of the products and services offered by JAS is essential, as the BDM will be responsible for maintaining this knowledge to effectively communicate with clients. The role requires travel throughout the assigned territory to meet with regular and prospective customers, ensuring strong business relationships are developed and maintained. The BDM will also be tasked with providing pricing, credit terms, and preparing sales contracts for orders obtained. Regular activity reports and sales plans for the assigned territory will need to be submitted, and participation in aggressive sales and skills training is expected. Adherence to all requirements outlined in the Sales Policy is mandatory, and the BDM may be assigned additional duties as needed. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to focus on sales and business development without the added responsibilities of managing a team.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of transportation industry logistics and freight forwarding
  • Thorough knowledge of successful sales techniques
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite

  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
  • Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • College degree preferred
  • 3-5 years successful sales experience in freight forwarding, logistics and or transportation industry
  • Experience with CMS system
