About the position

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished professional for the position of Business Development Manager. This role is pivotal in leading the strategy and growth within the Missiles marketplace, acting as the primary interface between EBAD and its customers as they develop new platforms. The Business Development Manager will report directly to the VP of Business Development and will be based in either Simsbury, CT or Moorpark, CA. In this position, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving EBAD's future business on new Missile platforms. This includes identifying client needs, managing business opportunities within the sales funnel, and collaborating with the capture management team to create winning technical solutions that secure new business. The role requires promoting and increasing sales through customer technical support, opportunity management, and direct sales at the component and subsystem levels. The Business Development Manager will engage in direct customer interactions and presentations, which will necessitate domestic travel of up to 50% of the time. Establishing new customer relationships while maintaining existing ones is crucial, as is meeting or exceeding booking goals for the Missiles market segment. The successful candidate will also maintain a five-year revenue forecast and provide input to the company's strategic planning process, recommending new business pursuits and potential expansions. The ability to efficiently utilize organizational resources to build an effective team and work within a capture team environment is essential for achieving company and department goals. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are necessary to function effectively as a leader or member of the proposal team, ensuring that proposals are adequate and acceptable. Participation in trade shows is also a key responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in a business development role in a highly technical marketplace.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business through market information gathering and assessment, customer interaction, guiding internal technology development, and leading winning proposal efforts.
  • Must meet all requirements under BATFE and ITAR and be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
