About the position

The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in leading the Business Development Representative (BDR) teams to achieve sales and margin growth goals. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the sales channel, developing and executing sales programs, and implementing market growth strategies that drive results. The manager will utilize technology and analyze metrics and data to meet objectives, including tracking sales percentages, gross margin growth, online sales, account activity, and overall account management. Regular reporting to management on results and actions taken will be essential to ensure transparency and accountability in achieving sales targets. In addition to managing the BDR teams, the Business Development Manager will participate in the recruiting process, hiring and training new BDRs. The manager will be responsible for developing, coaching, and motivating the team to maintain high professional standards and meet monthly sales and growth targets. This role requires a strong customer-oriented approach, with the ability to listen to and understand customer needs, ensuring that the team is equipped to provide effective solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, high energy, and enthusiasm for sales. They must be self-starters with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and have a proven ability to adapt and provide solutions in a fast-paced environment. Strong business decision-making skills, financial acumen, and problem-solving abilities are essential, along with an engaging leadership style that fosters credibility with vendors, staff, colleagues, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage BDR team(s) in achieving sales and margin growth goals
  • Conduct weekly progress reviews on account activity with BDR's
  • Advocate for the sales channel to develop, execute, and monitor sales programs
  • Develop and implement market growth strategies that drive results for this sales channel
  • Use technology and analyze metrics/data to achieve goals; build on Opportunity Process
  • Report out to management on results and actions being taken; track % sales, %GM growth, %sales online, account activity, and account management
  • Participate in the recruiting process to hire and train BDR's
  • Develop, coach, and motivate the BDR team to ensure that a high professional standard is achieved, and monthly sales and growth targets are met

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required); Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related degree desired
  • 3+ years of demonstrated sales leadership in HVAC sales, including sales and margin growth
  • CRM experience, preferably with Salesforce
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to listen and understand customer needs
  • Strong communication skills, work ethic, high energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for sales
  • Self-starter with excellent presentation, phone, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle, adapt, and provide solutions
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial work environment while focusing on results
  • Strong business decision-making skills and solid financial acumen
  • Solid problem-solving abilities and proven negotiating skills; high sense of urgency
  • Engaging leadership style that builds and sustains credibility with vendors, staff, colleagues, and customers
